5 Things to Know Today, June 2, in Montgomery County

Today is Wednesday, June 2 and here are five things to know in Montgomery County.

1. MCPS Graduations Begin: High school graduations begin today for Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) students. Ceremonies will take place on home school campuses, and June 17 is the last day for graduations. Families are invited to share their graduate’s photos.

2. Vaccine Clinic for MCPS Students: From 3:30-7 p.m., the county will hold a free COVID-19 vaccination clinic at Montgomery Village Middle School for MCPS students ages 12 and older. Make an appointment here.

3. Mental Health Conversation: From 6:30-7 p.m., residents are invited to a free, online conversation about suicide and mental health challenges among Black youth during the pandemic. No registration is required and residents can join on Teams Live or watch live on County Cable Montgomery and the county’s Facebook page.

4. Yard Trim Collection: The Montgomery County Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) is letting residents know that due to a COVID-19-related issue, yard trim collection is behind schedule. It is still ongoing, so if your yard trim was not collected on your usual day, DEP says to leave materials curbside. Some pickups may be delayed until June 6.

5. Senior Planet Montgomery: Senior Planet Montgomery continues to offer free Zoom classes to senior residents. Today’s classes include “Open Tech Talks about Health Apps” and “Crowdfunding for a Cause.”
