5 Things to Know Today, Sept. 1, In Montgomery County

Today is Wednesday, Sept. 1, and here are five things to know in Montgomery County.

1. National Preparedness Month: September is National Preparedness Month. This year’s theme is “Prepare to Protect. Preparing for disasters is protecting everyone you love.”

2. Flash Flood Watch: Montgomery County is under a Flash Flood Watch this morning until Thursday morning. Heavy rainfall is expected due to remnants of Hurricane Ida.

3. Weekly County Briefing: County Executive Marc Elrich, County Health Officer Dr. Travis Gayles and Acting Assistant Chief Administrative Officer Dr. Earl Stoddard will hold their media briefing at 1 p.m. today. Residents can watch live on MCM channels 21 and 995 (HD), County Cable Montgomery and on the county’s Facebook page and YouTube channel.

4. Renter Information Session: From 7 – 8:30 p.m., the Montgomery County Renters Alliance will hold an information session for tenants. Register for the Zoom meeting here.

5. Senior Planet: Senior Planet Montgomery continues to offer free Zoom classes to senior residents. Today’s classes include “Messaging Apps” and “Google Photos.”
