Camp Gan Izzy!
I absolutely love what I do! Not many people get to say that, but I am one of the fortunate ones who can! My days are never dull here at MCM. Today our reporters were on the “HOT” streets working on their stories, but we took our gear to Camp Gan Izzy of North Potomac (Located at Rosemont Elementary School in Gaithersburg for the summer). Lindsay brought the Bloggie and we had TONS of fun with the campers!
We first visited Camp Gan Izzy two weeks ago and got to work with the boys of the camp. They were definitely an energetic bunch! On Monday, we went back and met the girls. They were definitely very creative when recording each other. On both occasions we brought the Bloggies (the cameras we use for Backpack Journalism and Citizen Journalism) for the campers to use. They paired up and got to record their friends and take pictures. It was a lot of fun and it definitely kept Lindsay and me on our toes. Today we had both groups and we brought one of our Field Cameras (JVC GY-HM700) and boom microphone. The boom microphone intrigued our campers and two of campers got to hold the microphone for a few minutes. It started to get a little heavy for them. Lindsay and I lined all of the campers up on stage, while Larry got the camera ready. The choruses of them saying, “You’re watching the Montgomery Channel!” filled the multipurpose room at Rosemont. We had them say a few more things for us. You will have to wait to see that soon. You can see their camp song and some pictures of day.
Thank you Camp Gan Izzy for sharing your campers with us!
