Gaithersburg Delays and Closings, Weekend Weather Impacts Activities

rainydayWhile residents prepare for heavy rains over the weekend, Gaithersburg officials are updating residents about delays and closings.

The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Flash Flood Watch for Montgomery County from now through 8 p.m. on Saturday evening.

According to a news release, city officials urge everyone to register for Alert Gaithersburg, an emergency notification system that delivers messages simultaneously to multiple devices.

Below find out more about the latest cancellation of events and services:

Saturday, Oct. 3
• Skate Slam at the Skate Park – Cancelled;
• Main Street Farmers Market – Cancelled;
• Miniature Golf Course – Closed;
• Outdoor Sports and Soccer/Football Photos – Cancelled. Photos rescheduled for Oct. 17.

Sunday, Oct. 4
• Miniature Golf Course – Decision to be made by 10 a.m. Call 301.258.6420;
• Outdoor Sports – To be held as scheduled.

Monday, Oct. 5
• Recycling/Bulk Pick-up – If suspended due to weather, notification will be posted on the City website the morning of Oct. 5. Please use bins or carts with lids. Hold your recycling until 7 a.m. in windy conditions. Consider holding your recycling until the next pick-up during any severe weather event.

Local authorities are also reminding residents to never drive through flooded roadways. Drivers are reminded to treat intersections without working traffic signals as four-way stops.
