County Announces Holiday Closures for July 4 Weekend

Several county offices, programs and businesses will be impacted due to closures or modified hours on July 4, the county announced on Monday. 

“The Montgomery County Government, and programs that impact County residents, will observe schedule and program changes for the formal observance of Independence Day on Monday, July 4,” the county government stated in a press release on Monday. 

Some services will also be affected on Sunday, July 3 due to the holiday. The impacted are as follows, according to the county:

County/Public Offices and Buildings

-Community recreations and senior centers – Closed

-County-operated COVID-19 Vaccination and Testing Clinics – Closed

-County Offices – Closed

-Libraries – Closed

-Shady Grove Transfers Station and Recycling Center – Closed

-State offices and courts – Closed 

-State Motor Vehicle Administration and Vehicle Emissions Inspection Program Stations – Closed

-TRiPS Mobile Commuter Store – Closed

-TRiPS Silver Spring Commuter Store – Closed

Transportation

-Flash – Will operate on a weekend schedule on the Orange Line only. 

-MARC Train and Commuter Bus – No rail service on the Camden or Brunswick Lines, the Penn Line will operate on a Sunday schedule. 

-Metrobus – Will operate on a Sunday service schedule July 3 – July 4. More details can be found on the metrobus timetables.

-Metrorail – Will operate additional service on July 3. Trains will operate on a regular weekend schedule every 12 minutes on the Red Line and every 15 minutes on all other lines until 4 p.m. On July 4 trains will operate on a Sunday schedule. Trains will run every 12 minutes on the Red Line and every 15 minutes on all other lines until 8 p.m., then every 15 minutes on the Red Line and every 20 minutes on all other lines until closing. Metrorail will be open from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. on both days. 

-Parking at public garages, lots and curbside meters – Free

-Ride On – Will operate on a Saturday Schedule. Schedules available at RideOnbus.com.

-Ride On extRa and Flex – Not in Service

Businesses/Other facilities

-Alcohol Beverage Services (ABS) – All stores open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. 

-County outdoor aquatic facilities – Open 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.

-County indoor aquatic facilities – Closes at 6 p.m. (except for Germantown Indoor Swim Center which closes at 3 p.m.).

County Operations/Programs

-County-provided trash and recycling collections will not be made on July 4. Collections will slide one day during the week, with the last pickup on Saturday, July 9.
