Five Suspects Arrested for Gaithersburg Area Homicide (PHOTOS)

moco-police-logoDetectives from the Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) Major Crimes Division have arrested five suspects for the homicide of Jordy Mejia, age 22, of New Jersey, according to a news release.

Meija’s body was found on Nov. 12 by hikers  in a shallow grave in a wooded area on the 11500 block of Game Preserve Road.

Neris Moreno, age 19, of West New York, New Jersey,  was arrested on Jan. 2 in Silver Spring.  He was charged with first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit first-degree murder. He is currently being held without bond.

Reynaldo A Granados-Vasquez, age 21, of Frederick Avenue in Gaithersburg and Jose Israel Melendez-Rivera, age 18, of Lost Knife Circle in Montgomery Village, were arrested on Jan. 4 in Montgomery County.

Vasquez and Rivera were charged with first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit first-degree murder.  They are also being held without bond.

Two of the suspects are minors but are being charged as adults.

An investigation conducted by detectives revealed that several of the suspects lured Mejia to Germantown through a fake Facebook account.

It is believed that the suspects are associated with the MS-13 gang.

Due to the ongoing homicide investigation, no additional information will be released at this time.
