Five Things to Know For Jan. 18 in Montgomery County

Here’s five things to know today, Thursday, Jan. 18, in Montgomery County:

1. Boom in Bethesda: Montgomery County’s Department of Transportation(MCDOT) will conduct a single controlled blast beneath Rockville Pike (MD 355) near the Medical Center Metro Station today between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.

2. Local Emergency Planning Council: The Local Emergency Planning Council (LEPC) will be joined by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Chemical Facility and Anti-terrorism Standards to speak about soft targets and protecting facilities.

3. Live Discussion: Montgomery County Executive Isiah Leggett will host a live discussion with  county residents in an online interactive forum. Residents can submit questions anytime, and questions will be answered during the scheduled discussion time.

4. Purple Line Presentation: Maryland Secretary of Transportation Pete Rahn will give an update on the Purple Line Project.

5. Health and Human Services: Montgomery County Council’s Health and Human Services (HHS) Committee will meet to discuss County Executive Isiah Leggett’s 2018 Fiscal Year Savings Plan. Here’s the agenda.
