Here are five things to know today, Nov. 28, in Montgomery County:

1. Seeing Purple: County Exectuive Ike Leggett and other elected officials meet at 9:30 a.m. at College Park to create pathways to opportunity for those who work, live and invest in the Purple Line corridor.

2. Council Meeting: The Montgomery County Council has its regular meeting starting at noon. The agenda includes an update on the Kirwan Commission, which is studying Maryland education spending.

3. The Universe at Strathmore: Bestselling writer Deepak Chopra shares insights at 7:30 p.m. at the Music Center at Strathmore. Tickets $45 to $95. His latest book, “You Are the Universe,” explores some of the most important and baffling questions about our place in the world.

4. Furnishings: Montgomery County Public Libraries is looking for ideas on what kind of furniture should be placed in the Wheaton Libary.

Metro Red Line Project:¬†Metro’s Takoma station closes Nov. 25 thru Dec. 10 for major track work. A four-mile section of track will be replaced.
