Five Things to Know for Sept. 25 in Montgomery County

Today is Wednesday, Sept. 25, and it’s Comic Book Day. Celebrate by reading a comic about your favorite heroes and villains. Here are five things to know in Montgomery County.

1. Watershed Restoration and Outreach Information Session: The Montgomery County Department of Environmental Protection and the Chesapeake Bay Trust is inviting people to an information session on the Montgomery County Watershed Restoration and Outreach Grant Program. The information session is from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Montgomery County Government Building on 255 Rockville Pike, Suite 120. Here’s more information.

2. MCPS High School Options Preview Night: Montgomery County Public Schools has a strategic plan for high school programming that’s going to be implemented in phases over the next six years. MCPS is hosting a preview night tonight at Watkins Mill High School in Gaithersburg to explain these options with students and families. 3. Community Conversation with Councilmember Andrew Friedson: Councilmember Andrew Friedson is speaking to residents at The Mansion at Strathmore tonight from 7:30 to 9 p.m. about issues in the community.

4. Free Tool Engraving: Montgomery County Police’s Sixth District is hosting a free tool engraving event from 4 to 7 p.m. at the North Creek Community Center Pool in Montgomery Village. Here’s more information.

5. Free Narcan Training: The City of Rockville, Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services, and the Montgomery County Collaboration Council are conducting a free training on identifying opioid overdoses and using Narcan to reverse its effects. To register, call 240-777-1836 or email OverdoseResponseProgram@montgomerycountymd.gov. The training is at the Thomas Farm Community Center on 700 Fallsgrove Drive in Rockville. Participants need to be at least 18 years old.
