Here are five things to know today, April 17, in Montgomery County:

1. The Montgomery County Council’s Health and Human Services meets at 9:30 a.m. to review the fiscal 2018 budget request of libraries. Also at 9:30 a.m., the Government Operations and Fiscal Policy Committee will review the budget request of the Department of Technology. At 2 p.m., the Planning, Housing and Economic Development Committee will review the budget request of the county’s Park Police, and the Park and Planning Commission. And at 2:30 p.m., the Public Safety Committee will address the budget requests of the Fire and Rescue Service and the Office of Consumer Protection.

2. Council President Roger Berliner will hold his regular meeting with reporters at 11:30 a.m.

3. Gaithersburg Mayor and Council will meet in closed session at 9:30 p.m. to discuss City Manager Tony Tomasello’s performance evaluation.

4. Bethesda Row starts its Restaurant Week at 1 p.m. It lasts through April 23 and features 11 of Bethesda’s top culinary destinations.

5. The county Office of Emergency Management and Homeland Security holds an Emergency Preparedness Workshop starting at 10 a.m. at the Rockville library with information about preparing for disasters. Free, registration requested.
