1. Police Beat: Montgomery County Police Captain Mark Plazinski, a 23-year veteran of the department, has been named the police department’s new 5th district commander. He begins his new role on May 1st.

2. Best Schools: Churchill High School is one of the top 100 schools in the nation, according to U.S. News and World Report. Find out more, here.

3. Teacher of the Year: We will find out who the 2017-2018 MCPS Teacher of the Year is at tonight’s Champions for Children event at the BlackRock Center for the Arts.

4. Park Crawl: Join Montgomery Parks from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. for National Walk at Lunch Day. The Parks department is celebrating with a Pop Up Park Crawl in Silver Spring. Check out the map, here, and get in your 10,000 steps.

5. Money Smart Week: Montgomery County Public Libraries, in partnership with Montgomery County Employees Federal Credit Union and the Office of Consumer Protection, is offering free educational seminars and workshops on a variety of money-management topics this week.
