Five Things List-03Here are your five things to know today, Sept. 11, in Montgomery County:

1. Flags at half-staff from sunset to sunrise. This is in honor of Patriot Day and National Day of Service and Remembrance, in respect and memory of the victims who died as a result of the terrorist attacks against the United States on September 11, 2001.

2. Meeting with Media: Council President Roger Berliner meets with reporters at 11:30 a.m.  He’s expected to talk about the Purple Line, minimum wage and Pepco’s proposed rate increase.

3. Day to Serve: National Day of Service and Remembrance is an annual and forward-looking tribute to the 9/11 victims, survivors, and those who rose up in service in response to the attacks. Here’s some places to serve in the county.

4. Green Construction Code will be discussed during the Montgomery County Council’s Planning, Housing and Economic Development (PHED) Committee meeting.

5. Alcoholic Beverage Production: A zoning ordinance amendment to allow breweries and distilleries in Rockville will be the subject of a hearing during tonight’s Mayor and Council meeting.
