Royal Elite, a Cheer Prodigy All-Stars Elite Junior 1 team from Gaithersburg, placed 13th at the National Varsity D2 Summit May 8 in Orlando.
The team first competed May 6 in Orlando against 23 other schools as a wildcard for a spot in in the final competition. The cheerleaders placed third overall, advancing them to the national finals.
The team then competed against 14 other teams from across the nation and came in 13th place.
Royal Elite is the only cheer program in Montgomery County to reach this level for this year’s summit.
