Govenor Hogan to Name Georgia Avenue After Officer Noah Leotta
Last December, Leotta was struck by a vehicle while working as a member of the police department’s Holiday Alcohol Task Force. He had stopped a suspected drunk driver in Rockville when he was struck by another vehicle. He died a week later from his injuries.
Following his death, family, friends and fellow officers worked to pass legislation to prevent future tragedies due to drunk driving. The bill, known as Noah’s Law, was signed into law by Governor Hogan on May 19 and will take effect Oct. 1.
Hogan will be joined at the ceremony by Officer Leotta’s family, County Executive Ike Leggett, Police Chief Tom Manger and other officials.
