Montgomery County firefighters are investigating a house fire that caused $1.5 million in damage late last night (April 24) at 15137 Rollinmeade Drive in Darnestown.

Montgomery County Fire Spokesperson Pete Piringer said a family of six, two adults and four children, were displaced from their four-level, 3,800-square-foot home by the blaze.

According to Piringer, investigators believe the fire may have started by “spontaneous combustion,” caused by improperly discarded oily rags and paint brushes in a plastic bag in a shed.

There were no injuries reported.
