Practicing Interviewing Skills

Interviewing, Scavenger Hunt and Heat

I love day 2 of our Backpack Journalism class!  I have mentioned before that it is my favorite day of this class and today did not disappoint. In fact, I think it made me love it that much more. Our reporters are definitely on top of their game and I hope they had as much fun as I did today. I started class off with a recap of yesterday and went over today’s headlines. After that, they all picked a name and interviewed each other. We had some very “famous people” interviewed today. I love doing this game with our students; they get much more comfortable asking questions and will be ready for their interviews later on this week. Once everyone had a turn and all the questions were asked, the Bloggies came out!  I went over how to use them and they all caught on pretty well. They ventured out into the heat to complete the scavenger hunt. I really think today was a beautiful day to do this (minus the extreme heat). The sky was such a beautiful shade of blue this afternoon. The reporters even found a few interesting items around MCM’s studios.  The highlight was watching all of the footage they shot during the scavenger hunt.  I can honestly say, a great time was had by all!

Our reporters are hitting the streets today and the rest of the week to work on their stories. If you see one of them in your neighborhood, stop and give them a good quote! I can’t wait to see what they bring back on Monday!

On a side note, I mentioned that we went to Camp Gan Izzy yesterday. We are going back tomorrow morning for some video fun. Stay tuned to see what happens tomorrow.
