Local Organizations Providing Support for Ukraine

Ukraine relief efforts are circulating throughout the county as a multitude of foundations push to provide medical supplies, money, food, and humanitarian aid to the country in a time of need.

Some local organizations that are providing assistance to Ukraine include United Help Ukraine, The Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA) and The Jewish Federation of Greater Washington. There are also larger foundations helping like American Red Cross, Doctors without Borders and World Food Program. Anyone wanting to help the effort can volunteer or donate to any of these organizations by going on their websites.

United Help Ukraine, based in Gaithersburg, is focused on providing medical supplies, humanitarian aid, support for Wounded Warrior, and raising awareness about the situation, according to their website. ADRA, of Silver Spring, is collaborating with Hope Channel International, Inc. (HCI) to provide packages to those in Ukraine which include clothing, food, hygiene products/supplies and messages, their website states. The Jewish Federation of Greater Washington, based in North Bethesda, is collecting money to send to the country for humanitarian aid.

Larger, more nationwide organizations such as American Red Cross, Doctors without Borders and World Food Program are collecting similar donations. Though the American Red Cross is not shipping blood to Ukraine, they are still supporting the country by helping people displaced at the border, according to their website. Each organization is also collecting money that they will then use to send food and other supplies to those in need. To be part of the effort, one can either donate money, supplies, or time volunteering to show their support and help raise awareness about the situation.
