MCPS Students Receive College-Sponsored Scholarships
Eleven Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) students have received college- and university-sponsored scholarships in the latest round of awards from the National Merit Scholarship Corporation.
Each sponsoring college or university selected scholarship winners from among finalists in the 2013 National Merit Scholarship Program. These awards provide between $500 and $2,000 annually for up to four years of undergraduate study at the institution financing the scholarship.
The 11 MCPS college-sponsored scholarship recipients represent more than one-third of the 32 recipients in the state of Maryland and bring the MCPS total of National Merit Scholarship winners to 52, with one more round of recipients to be named in July.
Earlier this year, it was announced that 41 MCPS students had been awarded National Merit Scholarships—six students received corporate-sponsored scholarships, 24 received National Merit $2,500 Scholarships and 11 received National Achievement Scholarships.
