Md. House of Delegates Passes Bill to Allow Same-Day Voter Registration

The Maryland House of Delegates passed an amendment Thursday that would allow same-day voter registration throughout the state.

“A number of states are making it harder and harder to vote but in Maryland, we’re trying to make it easier,” Del. Al Carr (D-18) said.  “Passing this measure is a step forward in the right direction.”

The legislation will now move to the Maryland state Senate. If the state Senate approves, voters will have the ultimate say-so in the upcoming election this November.

“I’m pleased that it passed,” Carr said.  “It’s great legislation that works well in other states and we should have it in Maryland”

If voters pass the measure in November, the amendment would be implemented for the Presidential election in 2020, according to Carr.
