PhyllisNewsomeAwardsErvinIngridTurnerLafayetteBarnesMarkShriver 10-17-13Montgomery County Councilmember Valerie Ervin, left, was one of four honorees on Oct. 17 when the Center for Nonprofit Advancement presented its annual Phyllis Campbell Newsome Public Policy Leadership Awards at the Center’s 34th Annual Celebration at the Howard Theatre in Washington, D.C.

The award honors the Center’s former director of advocacy and community relations.

Among those at the ceremonies, left to right, were Councilmember Ervin; Mark Shriver, senior vice president for strategic initiatives and senior advisor to the CEO at Save the Children; and 2013 honorees Ingrid M. Turner of the Prince George’s County Council and Lafayette A. Barnes, the director of the D.C. Office of Partnerships and Grant Services.
