Olney Theatre Presents The Submission (Video)

The DC-area premiere of Jeff Talbott’s The Submission at Olney Theatre runs now through June 9. Winner of the inaugural Laurents-Hatcher Award, Olney Theatre Center’s production is the third professional production of the play since its World Premiere in 2011. The Submission follows Danny, a gay, white playwright as his play gets accepted at the nation’s preeminent theater festival. Trouble is, everyone thinks his stirring new play about an alcoholic black mother and her card shark son trying to get out of the Projects is written by Shaleeha G’ntamobi…and she doesn’t exist. Controversial themes of race and sexuality are part of the mix, as is explicit language.

Tickets are $38.50 – $63.50 and may be purchased online at the Onlney Theatre website or by calling the box office at 301.924.3400. Olney Theatre Center is located at 2001 Olney-Sandy Spring Road, Olney.
