Police Arrest Rockville Man For Allegedly Exposing Himself on Metrobus
A 48-year-old Rockville man was arrested July 31 after police said he exposed himself to an 8-year-old girl on a Metrobus.
Mario Amaro is alleged to have exposed himself to the girl seated next to him aboard a Metrobus bus that was en route to Silver Spring Station on July 9 at about 4:30 p.m.
The incident was reported to Metro Transit Police by the girl’s mother. Transit Police immediately launched an investigation.
Two days later, the 8-year-old girl was traveling on the same bus route with her mother when she saw the man again and pointed him out, according to the police news release. The mother took a picture of the man and provided it to Metro Transit Police detectives, who in turn, queried the Maryland Sex Offender Registry. Amaro was identified as a suspect based on the photo and physical descriptions provided by the mother, police said.
The girl was able to positively identify Amaro in a photo array, police said.
Amaro was arrested by the Metro Transit Police Warrant Squad at his home July 31 and subsequently identified himself as the person in the mother’s photograph, according to police.
Amaro will faces a charge of indecent exposure, according to the police news release.
