Silver Spring Man Dies in Pedestrian Accident

UPDATED, Nov. 4, 4:30 p.m.- Police have identified the pedestrian who was struck and killed today in Silver Spring as Tschimid Moshkin, 77, of the 13600 block of Montvale Drive in Silver Spring.

Mark Wesley Chambre, 64 of Silver Spring was driving the car that hit Moshkin, according to police.

UPDATED at 9:24 a.m.-  Montgomery County Police are investigating a fatal collision that occurred this morning involving a pedestrian and a passenger vehicle.

According to police, the collision occurred at 4:57 a.m. at the intersection of New Hampshire Avenue and Randolph Road.

Police said the investigation indicates that a pedestrian was crossing over New Hampshire Avenue from the west to the east when he was struck by a vehicle traveling southbound on New Hampshire Avenue. The pedestrian, an adult male, was transported to Suburban Hospital where he later died, police said.

Police have not released the identity of the driver or the pedestrian.

The investigation continues.

Montgomery County Police are investigating a serious collision involving a pedestrian struck at the intersection of Randolph Road and New Hampshire Avenue early today.

Fire and Rescue Spokesperson Pete Piringer said an adult male was transported to a local trauma center with priority one injuries.

Police are advising motorists to avoid the area during the morning rush hour as the investigation continues. During the investigation, the intersection was closed and the police department’s collision reconstruction unit was called to the scene.
