UPDATED: Police Close Vandalism Investigation at Westland Middle School
UPDATED 12.13.16 Montgomery County police officers have closed the vandalism investigation at Westland Middle School, according to Captain Paul Starks.
Last month, staff notified police that a student reported that swastikas were drawn on the mirrors and walls of a bathroom stall inside a boys restroom.
Starks said that Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) staff is handling it internally and if a student is identified the district will handle it.
School officials notified parents on Dec. 12 that after a “thorough investigation” they “have not been able to identify the person or people responsible.”
According to a school announcement, the incident was reported to the Anti-Defamation League and the Southern Poverty Law Center.
ORIGINAL POST Montgomery County police officers are investigating hate-based vandalism that occurred at Westland Middle School, which is located at 5511 Massachusetts Avenue, in Bethesda.
Police said that on Nov. 11, school staff told officers that a student reported that swastikas were drawn on the mirrors and walls of a bathroom stall inside a boys restroom.
