Police Release Surveillance Video of Teenage Burglars in Westfield Montgomery

Montgomery County police released surveillance photographs of a burglary at the Westfield Montgomery mall in Bethesda in hopes the public can identify three perpetrators.

Bethesda District officers arrived at Westfield Montgomery about 3:30 a.m. June 21 after a 911 call was received about an alarm at the J. Chow restaurant inside the food court, police said.

Officers did not locate the perpetrators. Store managers provided surveillance video to detectives who were able to obtain descriptions of eight individuals who had entered several food court establishments including Surku Japan Sushi Bar, McDonald’s, Wicked Waffle and J. Chow, police said.

On June 23 Bethesda District officers returned about 3:30 a.m. for a report of a burglary, police said. Security officers had four individuals in custody. Two were identified as participating in the June 21 burglary, police said.

Through the course of that investigation five juveniles were identified and arrested for the June 21 burglary.

The five identified perpetrators are all juveniles and were each charged with one to three counts of second-degree burglary, police said.

The remaining unidentified individuals are described as teenagers. One with short hair, glasses, wearing a baseball cap, red Washington Capitals shirt and shorts; one with short hair, wearing a plaid button-down shirt and shorts; and one wearing a blue t-shirt with a logo on the left chest area and shorts.

Anyone with information regarding the burglary or the identities of the three remaining suspects is asked to call the Bethesda District Investigative Section at 240.773.6710.

The names and arrest photographs of the five charged individuals will not be released due to their juvenile status.

These photos, released by Montgomery County police, are of the teenagers spotted by surveillance cameras:
