Rapper Logic Set to Release Album This Week (VIDEO & PHOTO)
I’m always on the lookout for new music and a colleague recently introduced me to hip-hop/rap artist Logic. His beats are catchy, the sound is smooth and his lyrics tell a story. I’m hooked.
His music is well produced and he’s toured with big names like Kid Cudi, but what really caught my attention is that Logic’s roots started right here, in Montgomery County.
Logic was born Sir Robert Bryson Hall II and raised in Gaithersburg, MD. On his website, Logic’s early life is described as hectic, “full of racism, drugs, and alcohol abuse.” He dropped out of high school, was kicked out of his home, and ended up living in a friend’s basement.
It’s during this tumultuous time that Logic immersed himself in music. In 2010 Logic released his first mixtape “Young, Broke, and Infamous.” This mixtape caught the attention of Visionary Music Group. He released mixtapes through VMG from 2010-2013, until he got an even bigger break in 2013, signing to Def Jam Records.
After signing to Def Jam, Logic released his album “Under Pressure” in October 2014 and it debuted at #4 on the Billboard Top 200.
While his music is still new to me, it’s become a staple on my playlist. My favorite track at the moment is “Mind of Logic,” off his “Young Sinatra” mixtape.
