Recognizing Black History Month (Photo)

blackhistorymonthBlack History Month’s 2014 theme of “Civil Rights in America” was celebrated on Feb. 4 by the Montgomery County Council and members of the County’s Black History Month Committee.

This year’s theme chronicles the important milestones achieved by African-Americans and others in the battle for civil rights, as well as marks the 50th anniversary of the 1964 Civil Rights Act.

At the ceremonies in Rockville were, left to right: Council President Craig Rice; JoAnn Barnes; Debra Jones; James Stowe, director of the County’s Office of Human Rights; Teresa Blair; Deborah Milo; Cornelia Gregory; Julian Norment; and Councilmember Cherri Branson.
