Residents Celebrate Cambodian New Year in Silver Spring (VIDEO& PHOTOS)
Thousands of residents celebrated the Cambodian New Year during a two-day event at the Cambodian Buddhist Society in Silver Spring on April 15 and 16.
Based on the traditional solar new year, the holiday lasts for three days and three nights. Organizers say it’s typically celebrated at the end of the harvesting season in April so farmers can have the chance to enjoy the fruits of their labors before the rainy season.
2017 marks the “Year of the Rooster.”
