Rockville Honors Good Neighbors (Video)

Rockville Mayor and Council presented the Good Neighbor Awards Oct 21 to Jim Benson, James Reschovsky and the Merrifield family. The Good Neighbor Awards honor members of the community who have made exceptional contributions to preserve and improve the quality of life in their neighborhood through good deeds or acts of service, often without seeking or receiving recognition for their efforts.

Jim Benson is the president of the Homeowners Association of Tower Oaks Village and has worked with property management and other local companies and resources to keep the community a safe and attractive place to live. He led the effort for Tower Oaks to ensure that Pepco was more responsive to community issues and needs.

James Reschovsky serves as the president of the Woodley Gardens Civic Association and is a tireless advocate for the environment. James has also served on the Upper Watts Branch Park Citizens Task Force and worked with the College Gardens Civic Association to offer candidates a public forum prior to City of Rockville elections.

Christine, Jimmy, Alex and Katherine Merrifield were honored for being exceptional neighbors and embodying what community is all about from hosting an annual Halloween gathering to having an overall welcoming spirit. Christine is the Assistant Director at Early Childhood Center on Welsh Drive and is famous for knowing each and every family that walks through the doors of the preschool.
