Rockville Pike and Veirs Mill Road Lane Closures

Construction will occur on Rockville Pike between First Street and Dodge Street and along Veirs Mill Road between Dodge Street and Baltimore Road. The work is scheduled to begin on September 8, and is expected to last two months.

Work will occur at night to minimize impacts to traffic and adjacent properties. Construction is scheduled for four nights per week, Sunday through Wednesday, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.
One lane northbound will be closed during construction. Temporary water service interruptions may occur and affected properties will receive advance notice.

Rockville hired contractor Mid-Atlantic Utilities to upgrade the existing 8-inch water main to 12-inches and eliminate a dead-end loop in the water system.

The project is part of Rockville’s Water Main Rehabilitation program to replace mains to assure continued dependable and efficient water service. The improvements aim to ensure that water pressure in homes and businesses, as well as essential fire protection, will be maintained at all times.
