Spiegel Named MML Vice President
Gaithersburg City Council Vice President Ryan Spiegel has been named Vice President of the Montgomery County Chapter of the Maryland Municipal League (MML). Spiegel has been involved with MML since his election to the Gaithersburg City Council in 2007.
“I am proud to serve an organization that brings together the cities and towns in Montgomery County to advocate for our residents and businesses,” said Council Vice President Ryan Spiegel. “The county’s MML chapter is integral to maintaining and enhancing the quality of life as we work with other community stakeholders to build better local and state government.”
There are nine regional organizations or “chapters” within MML. These chapters facilitate communication and cooperation within the League and between municipalities and other levels of state and local government. Twenty one municipalities make up the Montgomery County Chapter, which meets eight times a year.
A voluntary, nonprofit, nonpartisan association controlled and maintained by city and town governments, MML works to strengthen and support municipal government through advocacy and the development of effective leadership. Through its membership in the National League of Cities, MML offers legislative representation in Washington, urban research programs, and a national municipal government information exchange.
