Shirley Ballard Miller is a Charter Member of the Potomac Valley Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. (PVAC); and the Patuxent River Chapter of The Links, Incorporated.
Montgomery County resident Shirley Ballard Miller is a retired Chief of Documents Dissemination at the United States Central Intelligence Agency. Her commitment to public service began as a 17-year-old college freshman when she joined Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. at Clark Atlanta University in her hometown of Atlanta, Georgia. She earned a Bachelor’s degree from Clark Atlanta University and did her graduate studies in Library Science there also. Shirley Ballard Miller has volunteered in Montgomery County and the surrounding areas for over 40 years serving several organizations and Boards, including The Society, Inc., The Emeralds, The Wolf Trap Associates’ Board; The Community Foundation of the National Capital Area, and the Alzheimer’s Association of the National Capital Area. Shirley is a past president of both the Montgomery County and the Potomac Valley Chapters of Delta. For nearly 50 years, Shirley and her late husband, Herbert J. Miller, Founder of Social and Scientific Systems, Inc. have contributed to numerous causes to transform lives in Montgomery County.
Shirley Ballard Miller currently serves on the Board of the PVAC Fund, Inc. a 501 ( c) 3 nonprofit organization and supports the scholarship program for Montgomery County youth. Transforming Lives commends Shirley Ballard Miller for Giving Back to the Community.
