Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015) Movie Review
“I have lived long enough to see the same eyes in different people. I see your eyes… I know your eyes!”
The “Star Wars” universe is back and bigger than ever. This time, the story takes place 30 years after the defeat of Darth Vader and the Galactic Empire. This time, the galaxy is facing a new threat from the First Order and the main antagonist, Kylo Ren. A tough scavenger, Rey, comes across Finn, a former stormtrooper, who decided to become a rebel. Their two forces combine as well as with the iconic duo of Hans Solo and Chewbacca, and the whereabouts of Luke Skywalker is the main question here.
This movie was probably one of the most hyped movies of all time. Everybody was hyping this as one of the biggest movies ever. Most highly anticipated movies turn out not to be worth all of the hype, but this movie was without a doubt worth all of the anticipation and excitement.
Not only is “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” an amazing “Star Wars” movie, but it is an amazing movie. Heck yeah! This is everything that a “Star Wars” movie needs to be, with new characters as well as the old ones we loved. This movie was absolutely awesome! From the new cast and the old cast, they both do great. Daisy Ridley, who plays the new character Rey, is absolutely the best part of this movie probably. Her performance is phenomenal, and you never feel at one point that she is acting. Her character is interesting, involving, and you root for her all the way until the end. The other main new character, Finn (played by John Boyega) is great as well. You root for his character as well, and you can tell that he was so excited to be in the film and to be part of “Star Wars.” But he converted his excitement into his character, and still got serious at times with his character. There was also another new character, Poe, who plays a skilled Pilot. He really reminded me of Hans Solo, yet was new and wasn’t an exact copy of the character. He was just an awesome and really well-developed character. BB-8 was awesome in this movie, and you love him to death. He was so hilarious and was used really well. Kylo Ren, the main villain in the movie was incredible. He has a motivation, and he looks totally sick and awesome. While he isn’t as great of a villain as Darth Vader, I mean, who is better than Darth Vader himself? He is still totally awesome however, and a great replacement for the gone but not forgotten Darth Vader. Seeing the returning cast of Hans Solo, Chewbacca, C3PO, R2D2 and Princess Leia was awesome. Luke Skywalker? I won’t spoil anything about his character. That is for you to go out and experience yourself!
In the hands of Disney and J.J Abrams, nothing really went wrong! Abrams did it, for he knew the perfect balance between old and new “Star Wars”. Everybody will find something to love about this awesome film! The beautiful wide shots in space and on the planets were great, and the visuals are dazzling as usual. The action sequencing are just amazing! They are so intense, entertaining and breath-taking to witness! The set designs and the whole look of all the characters and the world is great! The film also has some CGI, and it looks really great! Everything was obviously well-thought out to make this the perfect blockbuster that everyone has been waiting for!
The screenplay is written really well! It brings the character to fates that they never imagined, and it brings this film to life! The humor is also very clever, and this is without a doubt the funniest “Star Wars” film to date. The musical score is just beyond perfection here! It is the old music with a bit of different editing put into it, and this time it works (unlike Return of the Jedi, prequels) And what the film really captures is what was so great about the old “Star Wars” films, whilst adding in new elements! My one issue with the film would be that it is a bit predictable at times, which is a bit disappointing because of all the hype promising mind-blowing twists, which there are a few surprising ones. But it doesn’t have that big twist like The Empire Strikes Back did, and this is mainly due to something a character does that takes the twist away (will discuss it in my upcoming spoiler talk for the movie, I do not feel the need to spoil anything) but nevertheless, this is still an incredible movie!
AHH yes. I am so happy this film did not turn out to be a disappointment. Take your friends and family to see this epic movie, it’s action packed and brilliant! It is the perfect blockbuster that you never had, but now you do!
Fresh, Re-Fueled by new adrenaline and characters, whilst bringing back what was so loved about the original “Star Wars” films, “The Force Awakens” is a showcase of both visuals and emotion, brilliant action and great directing to make this a worthwhile and excellent addition to the “Star Wars” franchise.
Final Rating: 9.5/10
