The Beginning of NEW Backpack Journalists

The first class of Backpack Journalism is now a memory as we go on to the next class. Despite the dreariness of a Monday, I think our first class went really well.  I did learn a few things from our students (which I mentioned that I might last night). Teenagers are so full of life and have very interesting outlooks on a variety of topics and  I found that out today. We have some new journalists in town, so I am pretty excited what they are going to bring to the table and “Backpack Beat”.  I think my favorite part of today was “brainstorming” story ideas. There are so many great topics that can be covered. The ideas that were coming from the students were very good. We have some great students for our first session of the summer and MCPS is definitely well represented. The student are from Poolesville High School, Rockville High School, Gaithersburg High School and Wheaton High School. It’s going to be a great summer and I am looking forward to what’s in store for tomorrow.
