Third Day of Metro’s Partial Red Line Shutdown Brings Long Lines to Silver Spring Shuttle Bus Riders

Monday morning’s commute was challenging for Metro’s Red Line riders who relied on shuttle buses to deal with the partial Red Line shutdown between Fort Totten and Silver Spring stations. Commuters waited in long lines that stretched several blocks for the shuttle buses at the Silver Spring Transit Center.

Saturday was the first day of a major repair project on the Red Line. The work is to replace a four-mile long stretch of the Red Line track near Fort Totten station and is scheduled to end Dec. 10.

Metro is providing shuttle bus service at the closed parts of the line.
