Friday, June 3

  • Glen Echo’s Art Walk in the Park occurs the first Friday of the month, May through September. Enjoy visiting the open studios and attending various artist demonstrations. Hours are 6 to 8 p.m.
  • The Friday Night Live concert series at Rockville Town Square continues tonight with The Nighthawks band playing the blues. The food and beverage tent this week is hosted by La Tasca. Hours are 6:30 to 9 p.m.
  • Zumba in the Park features an hour of high energy fun at the City Hall Concert Pavillion in Gaithersburg at 7 p.m.
  • Germantown youth in grades 3 through 8 may want to join in an end of school celebration at the Germantown Community Recreation Center from 7 to 9 p.m. Enjoy music, arts and crafts, food and prizes. The event is free.
  • Olney Theatre presents Bakersfield Mist at 7:45 p.m.
  • Bethesda Blues & Jazz Club present jazz musician Ronnie Laws at 8 p.m.
  • New Orleans piano legend Henry Butler performs at AMP by Strathmore in North Bethesda at 8 p.m.
  • Round House Theatre presents a funny new play by Ayad Akhtar about identify and religion. Don’t miss The Who & The What with a show at 8 p.m. in Bethesda.
  • The Friday Night Dancers present Contra dancing, with a dance lesson from 7:30 to 8:15 p.m.; followed by the called dance live music. Tonight Nils Fredland calls to Elixir from 8:30 to 11:30 p.m. in the Spanish Ballroom in Glen Echo Park.
  • Gaithersburg’s Skywatching program is Saturn as the planet will be at its closest approach to Earth and perfect for viewing if the weather cooperates. Join other sky gazers at the Observatory Park from 9 to 11 p.m. Remember to check Gaithersburg’s Community Museum Facebook page before leaving home as the event may be cancelled due to cloudy skies or bad weather.

Sunday, June 5

  • The Taste of Wheaton is cancelled due to weather forecast predicting severe weather. The Taste of Wheaton features food samples from some of downtown Wheaton’s best restaurants, wine tasting, live music, kids’ rides and more from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • The second day of the Washington Folk Festival at Glen Echo Park celebrates folk music, dance. and craft traditions. Five stages simultaneously present music and dance. Hours are noon to 7 p.m.
  • The Puppet Co presents Li’l Red & the Pigs at Glen Echo Park at 11:30 a.m.
  • Olney Theatre presents Bakersfield Mist at 1:45 p.m.
  • Round House Theatre presents a funny new play by Ayad Akhtar about identify and religion. Don’t miss The Who & The What with a show 2 p.m. in Bethesda.
  • Put on your dancing shoes and bring the family for an afternoon of dance at the Kentlands Mansion from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Dance instruction will be provided by Heartwing Photography.
  • Bethesda Blues & Jazz Club present Beatlemania Now, a tribute to the Beatles at 7 p.m.
