White’s Ferry Prepares for Flooding (Photos)

The operators of the historic White’s Ferry were preparing for flooding on Oct. 29 as the store manager and employees were packing up and moving out as they expect the Potomac River to rise over its banks this week.

You can see from these photos that three historic floods have made their watermark on the building at White’s Ferry in 1972, 1985 and 1996.

Store manager Barrett Brown said he really didn’t know what to expect from Hurricane Sandy but they weren’t taking any chances. Weather experts say the extent of flooding may be known on Wednesday.
