Windy Weather Brings Wires and Tree Branches Down, Kensington House Apartments Lose Power (PHOTOS)



Strong winds brought tree limbs, branches and wires down in some areas of Montgomery County on Sunday afternoon.

In Kensington, Fire and Rescue Spokesperson Pete Piringer said a pole was snapped by the wind in the 10200 block of Frederick Avenue near Kensington Parkway.

Piringer said the roads were closed and 140 apartments at Kensington House Apartments were without electricity for an extended period of time.

In North Bethesda, on Tuckerman Lane between Rockville Pike and Old Georgetown Road, a large branch struck a vehicle. Piringer said there were no injuries but some lanes were blocked for s short while.

Piringer said it was important to use caution around any downed poles or wires.
