Damascus Barn Fire Causes $100,000 Damage

UPDATED 8:33 p.m.

A hay fire in a barn off Damascus Road caused $100,000 in damage, according to Fire and Rescue Spokesperson Pete Piringer.

During the afternoon fire fight, police officers closed Damascus Road at Chrome Mill Road.

Piringer said the fire was caused by spontaneous combustion. He said there were no injuries and most of the damage was to the structure, which partially collapsed, farm equipment and the structure’s contents.

Several out of county fire agencies assisted in providing water tankers to help Montgomery County firefighters battle the blaze.
