U.S. Rep. John Delaney Vote on Refugees

John DelaneyUPDATED U.S. Rep. John Delaney, a Democrat, voted for the American SAFE Act, which would require the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and relevant national security agencies to ensure that each refugee receives a thorough background investigation before U.S. refugee admission.

Delaney released the following statement about his vote:

“Regarding Syrian refugees, we should not have an arbitrary cap of 10,000, we should expedite the screening of women and children, and the screening process should be of the highest standard. My vote today reflects that belief.”

He also posted more about his vote after receiving hundreds of comments on his Facebook page:
