Detectives Seek Public’s Help Solving 2014 Homicide Case

Montgomery County Police is starting to periodically release information about ongoing investigations in the hopes that someone will come forward and have information to bring closure to the case.

In a video released to the police’s Twitter account, Detective Katie Leggett said that Wednesday, Feb. 20, marked the five year anniversary of the homicide of Phillip Welsh.

Police say that Welsh, 67, was found dead at his home in Silver Spring on Hanover Street.

Leggett said one of his coworkers from Barwood Taxi discovered his dead body at his home when he “failed to show up at work.”

Officer Rick Goodale said in the video that often cases are solved when someone has the courage to come forward with information that was previously unknown.

Anyone with information about this homicide from 2014 should call 240.773.5070.
