Executive Leggett Testifies at Local Bills Hearing on Liquor Control Legislation (VIDEO)

The Montgomery County delegation held a local bills hearing on Nov. 30 at the Council Chambers in Rockville. There was a packed crowd for the hearing that lasted until 2 a.m. on Dec. 1st.

County Executive Ike Leggett was among those in the room to testify about a bill that could impact the way the Department of Liquor Control operates in Montgomery County.

Leggett’s testimony was so passionate that it even drew applause from some in the chambers. If the bill passes, Leggett warned of an increase in taxes of $100 for the average household in Montgomery County as he told state lawmakers there was no need for this bill.
