Five Things to Know Oct. 10 in Montgomery County

Here are five things to know today, Oct. 10, in Montgomery County, Maryland:

1. Governor Celebrates Fitness: Governor Larry Hogan is expected to attend National Foundation for Governors’ Fitness Councils ribbon cutting and pep rally at Newport Mill Middle School in Kensington today at noon.

2. Council Meeting: The Montgomery County Council is expected to discuss gun violence, a zoning text amendment for bed and breakfasts in historic buildings and commemorate Hispanic Heritage Month.

3. Board of Education Meeting: School board members will discuss the 2018-2019 School Year Calendar and more.

4. Gerrymandering Event: Maryland’s Redistricting Commission will be hosting its last regional meeting in the county.  It will be held at Montgomery College Rockville Campus.

5. Master Plan of Highways and Transitways: The Montgomery County Planning Department is holding a public meeting at the Marilyn J. Praisner Library in  Burtonsville to solicit feedback from the public on proposed changes to the Master Plan of Highways and Transitways (MPOHT).

One other thing …

Town Hall:  Councilmember George Leventhal will hold a community meeting to discuss issues of special interest to individuals with developmental differences and their families at Montgomery College in Rockville.
