2. Welcome Home Champ: Bethesda’s Katie Ledecky is on her way home today after setting several new world records and winning the trophy for female swimmer of the FINA World Championships. Congratulations Katie!

3. Adequate Public Facilities Ordinance (APFO) Talk: Mayor Jud Ashman and the Gaithersburg City Council are holding a joint work session with the Planning Commission tonight to discuss revisions to the city’s APFO. Peruse the agenda and background information about schools, here.

4. Talented Songwriters Wanted:  Do you like to write songs? The second annual Bernard/Ebb Songwriting Awards is searching for the best up and coming songwriters in Maryland, Virginia and Washington, D.C.  The grand prize is $10,000 and there is also a category for young songwriters with the chance to win $2,500. 5. Cruise for Bats and Beavers: You can take a pontoon boat cruise at sunset tonight and learn about bats and beavers at Black Hill Regional Park.
