Five Things to Know Today, Dec. 16, in Montgomery County

Today is Wednesday, Dec. 16. It is the seventh night of Hanukkah, Christmas is nine days away, and we might be in for snow today.

Here are five things to know in Montgomery County.

1. Winter Weather: The National Weather Service (NWS) issued a Winter Storm Warning and Winter Weather Advisory for parts of our county today. Capital Weather Gang (CWG) predicts that some areas could see up to 10 inches of snow/sleet.

2. COVID-19 Testing Canceled: The county’s free walk-in and drive-through COVID-19 testing is canceled today due to inclement weather forecasts.

3.  Weekly COVID-19 Media Briefing: County Executive Marc Elrich, County Health Officer Dr. Travis Gayles and Emergency Management Director Dr. Earl Stoddard will hold their weekly media briefing at 12:30 p.m. You can watch live on MCM channels 21 and 995 (HD) and on Facebook and County Cable Montgomery.

4. Mental Health Discussion: The county health department will hold an online discussion about mental health and wellness at 6 p.m. Residents can watch live on Facebook and County Cable Montgomery.

5. County Employment Workshop: If you’re interested in working for Montgomery County government, public libraries will hold an employment workshop at 10:30 a.m.
