Here are five things to know today, June 14, in Montgomery County:

1. Bridge Reopens: The Carroll Avenue Bridge is reopening today in Takoma Park, a month ahead of schedule, according to the Maryland Department of Transportation.

2. Business News: Maryland Comptroller Peter Franchot is scheduled to present proclamations to three Montgomery County businesses today in Ashton and Sandy Spring. Franchot is visiting Dempsey’s of Ashton, El Andariego, and Christopher’s Hardware.

3. Elder Abuse Awareness Event: Montgomery County is hosting its 7th annual Senior Safety Fair from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. at the Rockville Senior Center to recognize World Elder Abuse Awareness.

4. Commencement Ceremony: It’s graduation day for seniors at James Hubert Blake HIgh School. Congratulations to the class of 2017!

5. Police Meeting: Montgomery County Police Department’s 6th District Commander Dinesh Patil is holding a community meeting in Montgomery Village tonight at 7 p.m. to discuss recent crime events and stats.

ICYMI: Early voting in the 2018 Gubernatorial Primary Election begins one year from today.  The Board of Elections wants your feedback on proposed early voting centers.
