1. Piney Branch: Fire and Rescue services are responding to an overnight explosion and fire at Flower Branch Apartments. Piney Branch Road between University Boulevard and Flower Avenue is closed.

3. Back to School: Superintendent Jack Smith says MCPS plans to welcome about 159,000 students this year.

4. Recreation: Cabin John Ice Rink’s Olympic Rink is experiencing mechanical failures and will be closed until repairs are completed. The NHL rink is still open.

5. Music: Rockville kicks off its Lunch Out Live Concert Series today at 11:30 a.m.
