At the end of the International Day of the Girl, I got a chance to interview Ms. Yawa Hansen-Quao. Ms. Yawa is the founder of Leading Ladies’ Network and the co-founder of Impact Hub in Accra, Ghana. Questions asked and Ms. Yawa’s responses are as follows:
Why did you start doing what you do now? Her answer was, “When I was a child I was bullied because of my voice and how I couldn’t speak proper English.” She didn’t want other girls to feel the same way she did while she was growing up.

Is there any advice you would give to girls who are scared or afraid to speak up? To which she answered, “I would tell them to not be afraid. You have a voice and you should use it and no one can take that away from you.”
