NWS Issues Flood Warning for Central Montgomery County Wednesday

The National Weather Service issued a flood warning until 9 p.m. for central Montgomery County.

According to the warning, up to two inches of rain have already fallen over a large area. Additional rainfall amouts of one to three inces are possible.

The locations that will experience flooding include Germantown, Rockville, Gaithersburg, Montgomery Village, North Potomac, Redland, Boyds, Clarksburg, Darnestown, Washington Grove, and Dawsonville.

Motorists should NOT drive through flooded roads, even if it seems safe. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other drainage areas and low lying spots.
