Officials Say Fireworks Are Illegal in Montgomery County

Local fire officials say in Montgomery County ALL FIREWORKS (basically anything that will burn, fly, or explode) are ILLEGAL to possess or discharge; including Sparklers.

However snap-and-pop, noise makers, snakes & party poppers are OK & the ONLY exception to this law.  Officials recommend that residents attend a public fireworks display.

“There were 17 fireworks-related incidents reported in Maryland last year,” said State Fire Marshal Brian Geraci. “Prevention of burns, injuries, and fires has always been a top priority of our office. The safest way to enjoy fireworks this July 4th holiday season is to attend one of the many public firework displays throughout the state.”
